Ater, or simple syrup, is a sugar based syrup used to sweeten many Middle Eastern desserts.
It's such a versatile recipe because you can customize the flavor based on your liking. You can flavor it with orange blossom water, rose water, vanilla, cinnamon or cardamom.
Cook Time: 10 minutes
1 1/2 cups white sugar
3/4 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1) In a pot, combine sugar and water. Let it come to a boil on medium heat. Leave to boil for 2 minutes. Lower the heat to medium-low and add the lemon juice. Let simmer for 5 minutes. Turn off heat and set aside.
- After you turn off the heat, you can add orange blossom or rose water.
